Just uploaded a video of me doing a violin cover of “Mononoke Hime”, the theme from the Japanese film Princess Mononoke.
I played this piece to open a benefit concert for the earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan.
Sorry for the bad quality. I know I sound like I’m underwater. :P
Text “REDCROSS” to 90999 to donate $10 to Japan. (:
first of all, you’ve completely missed the point. And second, get a freaking sense of humor.
Just because you have 3 songs by The Strokes on your iPod, know the lyrics to “Don’t Stop Believing” and put your mom’s old Cyndi Lauper vinyl on your wall doesn’t mean you’re some kind of enlightened, further evolved demigod from the rest of us. Instead of feeling frustrated because oh my god, our generation is so dumb and conformist and ignorant of the nuances of The Cure, open your eyes and realize that the over sixty million people who love the “Friday” video are ON YOUR SIDE. We love her, the song and the video because they are a hilarious unintentional parody on teeny bopper music. Yes, we find it as stupid as you do. But instead of putting other people (and Rebecca Black) down, we laugh. It doesn’t mean we aren’t as “enlightened” as you. It just means we’re secure enough in our personal music tastes that we don’t feel the need to be elitists about it. It’s almost like we can have … what’s that word again?
Oh yeah, fun.
Come on, people. Stop sending this girl death threats. Stop crying because you think music has died. Stop making this a controversial issue. Lighten up. I promise once you understand that having “superior” music taste and being able to relax aren’t mutually exclusive, life will be so much easier for you.
